Dear Edie,
I was at a dinner party the other day. As I was chatting with the woman next to me, she at one point mentioned that she saw Grey Gardens at the Paris Theatre in New York shortly after it opened there 20 years ago. Then she began to describe a woman seated 2 or 3 seats to the left of her also watching Grey Gardens. This woman she described as totally engaged with what she saw on the screen to the point where she sat on the edge of her seat, eyes glued to the screen.
The woman so enthralled was Greta Garbo.
True story.
She also added that you, and your mother, and Greta Garbo had some mysterious quality of character in common.
Love, Al.
